North County Wine Company was made possible by James Allyn and his wife of 19 years, Rebecca Negard, residents of San Marcos since 2003. Rebecca and James are avid supporters of the arts, animal rights, local business and the preservation for open space.
Growing up in Marin and Sonoma counties in Northern California, James' passion for fine wine goes back over 37 years. He would drive his 1954 Ford pickup truck to Napa and Sonoma and purchase grapes, returning to the small costal town of Bolinas to make wine in a community effort using a 100 year old basket press from Spain.
James has lived a wonderful life which has been fulfilled with a professional career in music and large-format commercial photograpy. He was a director for the claymation-animated "Gumby Series " in the 1980's, an editor/publisher of lifestyle Magazines, he photographed and produced calendars, posters and post cards.
His favorite hobbies are competitive world class sailing, far away travels, fun dogs, exotic cars, fine arts, music and of course fine wines from around the world. You can find James at North County Wine Company just about any day of the week.
